The eighth grade music class is a nine week course that provides students with a general overview of the basic elements of music and relevant music history that has influenced American and western culture.  These elements include:

  • pitch,
  • rhythm 
  • melody 
  • harmony
  • texture 
  • musical form 
  • timbre

Significant music history events include but are not limited to:

  • Rock and Roll
  • Jazz
  • Classical

Guitar performance. The nine week period does not allow enough time for beginning students to become proficient in guitar performance.  However, students may learn to read basic musical notation, and play short simple melodies.
